A1 Course

In the Aleph course, the first course at the beginner level, we learn all the letters, reading, writing and correct pronunciation. We learn words of introduction and basic self-introduction. We learn basic verbs from everyday life, We learn to introduce our home and our family – who they are, where they are from, how old they are. And we finally start using Hebrew on the street – in a restaurant, in the market and in a store.

**The syllabus may vary depending on the group's abilities and at the discretion of the course instructor.

 

Unit 1: First Steps

  • Lesson 1: The "Ani" Brand

    • Can-Do: Introduce yourself and use basic greetings.

    • Grammar: Pronouns, Basic Nominal Sentences.

  • Lesson 2: Global Nomad

    • Can-Do: State your country and city of origin.

    • Grammar: Preposition "Mi..." (from), Proper Nouns.

  • Lesson 3: Polyglot Vibes

    • Can-Do: Discuss the languages you speak and understand.

    • Grammar: Present tense (speak/understand), Gender.

  • Lesson 4: Ice Breaker

    • Can-Do: Conduct a full first-encounter conversation.

    • Grammar: Question words (Who, What, From where).

 

Unit 2: My World

  • Lesson 5: Bag Check

    • Can-Do: Identify and name everyday personal objects.

    • Grammar: Nouns, Definite Article (Ha...).

  • Lesson 6: Insta-Hebrew

    • Can-Do: Exchange phone numbers and social media.

    • Grammar: Numbers (0-20), Content questions.

  • Lesson 7: Hands Off!

    • Can-Do: Express ownership and personal boundaries.

    • Grammar: Preposition "Shel" (of), Pronouns.

  • Lesson 8: The Workspace

    • Can-Do: Describe your office or study environment.

    • Grammar: Action verbs (sit, write), Plurals.

 

Unit 3: The Rhythm

  • Lesson 9: The Weekender

    • Can-Do: Name the days and mention specific dates.

    • Grammar: Days of the week, Preposition "Be...".

  • Lesson 10: Time is Money

    • Can-Do: Tell the time and schedule appointments.

    • Grammar: Numbers (0-60), Time terms.

  • Lesson 11: Morning Ritual

    • Can-Do: Describe your basic morning routine.

    • Grammar: Present tense (get up, drink, go).

  • Lesson 12: Weekend Mode

    • Can-Do: Describe leisure activities and plans.

    • Grammar: The verb "Want," Negation (Lo).

 

Unit 4: Foodie

    • Can-Do: Order a drink like a local in a café.

    • Grammar: Adjectives (hot, cold, large).

  • Lesson 14: Cheat Day
